North Wales Chronicle A folk group that pack them in over the border are looking to return back home to entertain on their own patch. Run dog run have been on the road as a full time folk duo for three years but now want to remind people they are still on their doorstep. Tremadog based Russ Chester, and Andy Jones, of Pant Glas are always introduced as the top Welsh duo when they are introduced over the border, and they are keen to show this is not an extravagant claim. "We spend so much time travelling to play at gigs and festivals over the border, that I'm afraid people have forgotten about us" says Russ, who plays a mean accordion and plays guitar as well as delivering the vocals. Andy is the guitar/ vocalist and both have been performing together since 1999. "We've always thought of ourselves as a band that chooses to play acoustic instruments" adds Russ. "What we're trying to acheieve is take the honesty, richness of texture, pecussivness and bass response which acoustic instruments can project (and which very few people experience) and replicate it in a live situation". The boys deliver Celtic, Cajun, Zydeco as well as their own material, with a new album in the offing."The majority of our music is based on some vey powerful but simple rythmns, it's what has moved people for centuries, and it's what got Run dog run started" said the boys. "Whenever we went anywhere we'd take the instruments along and end up playing in the nearest pub.by the end of the night you'd end up with a lot of rowdy people banging, dancing and singing along, generally enjoying what we enjoy. It's the gut feeling of the music that excites us and gets us involved, we've arranged tunes in the past which were interesting and technical, but that's all they were! We're not trying to make any sort of statement, it's just good to see people dance, relax, have fun and be moved by the music as much as we are"

The Wheaton Aston Review As Run dog run, Russ chester (accordion, guitar and vocals) and Andy Jones (guitar and vocals), have a good musical empathy. And this- plus the diverse, acoustic, rootsy feel of their music- is what attracted us when we first heard these two North Wales lads, who perform with great conviction and effect. They won't be tied to any particular music genre -and one of the delights of their gigs is that you never know what's coming next! It could be something with a Cajun/Zydeco flavour, a Celtic one, American trad or one of their own creations. they play it tight, they play it well -and what emerges is a lovely feelgood, often high energy, ambience. This is infectiously happy, smiley music. Music that's hard to sit still to. And not only that -it's good for the soul. What more can we ask for?
